Since English and Kazakh are languages with different structures, it is obvious that each language has its own peculiarities in the formation of phraseological units. Since the object of the research is
phraseological units with antonymous components, in the course of the research we selected phraseological units with antonymous components from various phraseological dictionaries. We also divided them into the following structural and grammatical groups: substantive, adjectival, adverbial and verbal phraseological units with antonymous components. In the course of the research, the morphological expression of the head components of phraseological units with antonymous components, the types of syntactic connection of the components in the composition of phraseological units were analyzed. As a result of the research, it was established which parts of speech the phraseological units selected from phraseological dictionaries belong to, which of them are productive and which are unproductive in both languages. We relied on the whole meaning of phraseological units when determining the relationship of phraseological units to certain parts of speech.
