Guidelines for Authors

INSTRUCTION FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

 

  • The Bulletin of Karaganda University. Philology Series publishes articles in Kazakh, Russian, and English. The length of the article must be from 20,000 to 40,000 characters, including spaces, covering all metadata: abstracts, references, and author information. Submissions exceeding this limit are accepted only in exceptional cases by prior agreement with the Editorial Board.

 

  • Attention: The journal accepts articles with no more than 3 authors. Exceptions are possible only by agreement with the Editorial Board for interdisciplinary or collaborative research, provided that a detailed description of each author’s contribution is included in accordance with the CRediT taxonomy.

 

  • Before submission: The article must be submitted in two Word files: the first file must contain full information about the author(s), and the second file must be anonymized, without any author identification.

 

  • The article must be prepared in Microsoft Word using a unified style format. The manuscript margins must be: top and bottom — 25 mm, left and right — 20 mm; font — Times New Roman, size — 11 pt; line spacing — single; alignment — justified; paragraph indentation — 0.8 cm.

 

  • The article must be written at a high scientific level, address current issues of contemporary linguistics and literary studies, and contain significant and clearly formulated results of theoretical or applied research.

 

  • The structure of the article must include the following sections: Introduction, including the problem statement and background; Materials and Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusion.

 

  • Author contributions: At the end of the article, after the author information, the contribution of each participant must be specified using the CRediT taxonomy.

Roles: Conceptualization; Data Curation; Formal Analysis; Funding Acquisition; Investigation; Methodology; Project Administration; Resources; Software; Supervision; Validation; Visualization; Writing – Original Draft; and Writing – Review & Editing.

Attention: not all roles may apply to every article, and one author may perform several roles at the same time.

 

  • Use of AI: If generative AI is used, the author must include a section titled “Statement on Generative AI Usage,” specifying the tool, version, and purpose of its use.

 

  • The article must be accompanied by abstracts in Kazakh, Russian, and English. The length of each abstract must be 300–350 words. An abstract is a concise summary of a scientific article. It must present the relevance of the problem, the methods proposed by the author to solve it, and the results obtained. The quality of the abstract must allow preliminary evaluation and classification of the article. The abstract should not merely describe the phenomenon under study; it must demonstrate the author’s contribution to solving a particular problem. Recommended phrases include: This article examines the issues of... Characteristic features are analyzed... The necessity is identified and justified... Based on the conducted research, the author proposes..., formulates... It is proven that... It is demonstrated that... It is revealed that..., etc.

 

  • The article must be preceded by keywords in Kazakh, Russian, and English, with 5 keywords in each language.

 

  • All abbreviations and acronyms, except for universally recognized ones, must be defined at their first appearance in the text.

 

  • Figures and tables must have titles. Figure titles must be placed below the figure, while table titles must be placed above the table. A figure or table must first be cited in the text, and only after the citation should the figure or table appear. Raster images must have a resolution of 600 dpi.

 

  • If the research was funded by a grant, state budget program, or another source of funding, this information must be indicated.

 

  • “References” in English must be formatted according to the international APA bibliographic standard (http://www.bibme.org/citation-guide/APA/book). If there are sources not in English, two reference lists must be provided: the first list, in the original language of the sources, Kazakh, Russian, or other non-English languages, must be formatted according to GOST 7.1-2003 “Bibliographic Record. Bibliographic Description. General Requirements and Compilation Rules” and placed after the article; the second list must be formatted according to the international APA bibliographic standard, with transliteration, and placed at the end of the document before the author information. Transliteration must be performed using https://translit.net/. Samples of reference formatting are attached in the style file.

 

  • The first citation in the text must be numbered [1], the second — [2], [3–5], etc. When citing a result from a book, the number of the source in the reference list and, after a semicolon, the page number on which the result is published must be indicated. For example: [8; 325]. References to unpublished works whose results are used as evidence are not allowed.

 

  • The article must contain at least 25 references.
  • Information about each author must be provided in English and include the following: full name; academic rank; academic degree; position; place of work; city; country; e-mail; ORCID. Attention: ORCID and e-mail must be provided as active hyperlinks.

 

  • The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject a submission if it does not comply with the journal’s requirements for authors. All articles published in the journal undergo a check for originality and the volume of borrowings using automated plagiarism detection systems on the website https://strikeplagiarism.com/en/.

 

  • Control and deadlines: Articles undergo initial technical screening. If the author(s) fail the technical screening 3 times, the article is permanently rejected. The peer-review period is from 2 to 6 months. If the author does not respond to the Editorial Board’s comments within 1 month, the article is rejected.

 

  • The publication fee for an article in the journal is:
  1. For foreign authors without affiliation with Kazakhstani organizations — free of charge;
  2. For authors with an H-index above 15 — no publication fee is charged;

For all other authors — 50,000 tenge.
