The proposed work is devoted to the study of the concept of “life/omir”, represented by proverbs and sayings of the Russian and Kazakh languages. The relevance of the topic of this study is due to the fact that the representation of the concept of “life/omir” in proverbs and sayings of the Russian and Kazakh languages in a comparative aspect has not yet been studied. The following research methods were used in the work: comparative, descriptive, semantic analysis method and lexicographic analysis techniques. The conducted research allowed the author to identify the universal and specific features of the functioning of the concept of “life” in the analyzed languages. The author sees the prospect of this work in involving texts of works of art and data from an associative experiment in the study.
