Linguocognitive nature of the concept of “prayer” in the context of the worldview of Humankind

Abstract

In the article a comprehensive analysis of “prayer” concept was given. The connotative, ethnocognitive, evaluative, associative, figurative characteristics of this concept were considered in linguistic aspect based on linguists’ conclusions. The anthropological study of linguistic-semantic, ethnocognitive categories appeared during prayer made it possible to determine cognitive characteristics of perception of ethnics, person’s emotional state. While studying blessing as a tool for strengthening relationship between social institutions, place, significance of cultural communication was revealed. The effectiveness of anthropological study of “prayer” concept was revealed through linguocognitive, comparative analyses, semantic analysis of grammatical categories. As a result, connection between prayer discourse and national identity, religious features, person’s emotional state, archetypal images were determined; connotative, ethnocognitive, evaluative, associative, figurative characteristics of prayer in the worldview of the people, humanity, linguistic personality were analyzed on conceptual aspect. The practical significance: linguists, theologians, ethnologists, psychologists can fully use algorithm of analysis of texts relating to “prayer” concept.
