The features of translation of the idioms with the lexeme "heart" in A. Kekilbaev's novel "Urker" into Turkish

Abstract

In recent years, as a result of the increased special interest in idioms, which are considered a vivid manifestation of the culture of peoples, the problem of comparative and contrastive study of the phraseological fund of various languages has become a topical issue of linguistics, since the phraseology of any nation vividly reflects the worldview, mentality, culture, folklore, traditions and customs of the people. In this regard, the article examines the features of translation of the phraseological units with the lexeme "heart" in A. Kekilbaev's novel "Urker" into Turkish. The main goal of this study is to reveal the cognitive and semantic nature of the idioms in the context of the lexeme "heart" in the novel "Urker" and identify the features of their translation into Turkish.  As the research material, 81 somatic idioms from the novel expressing the lexeme "heart" have been chosen and the ways of their translation into Turkish have been analyzed. The authors also propose alternative ways of translation of phraseological units into Turkish, in which the lexeme "heart" is a main component and draw conclusions in the scope of the lexeme "heart" in the phraseological fund of kindred Kazakh and Turkish languages.
