Aspects of the folklore cycle theory

Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical understanding of cyclization in folklore. Based on research existing in modern folklore the author offers the vision of processes of formation of a folklore cycle. The author identifies the stages of forming a folklore work: «version stage», «variational budding stage», «version conversion consolidation stage». The role of theme and idea in the development of the cycle is analyzed separately. The concept of super topic is introduced. As a result, four cyclogenic factors are identified. On this basis, the author offers a working definition of the folklore cycle.
