Abstract

This article examines the artistic anthropological image of the category “genre” in modern Kazakh prose,
based on the stories of Rakhimzhan Otarbayev. The relevance of this research is inextricably linked to the
need to interpret the spiritual and psychological depths of the human soul in Kazakh literature from the
perspective of the national worldview. In today’s world, the issue of preserving national identity and
reevaluating spiritual values has become a crucial task for literary studies. As a result, delving into the human
soul and portraying its inner world through artistic means has become a relevant pursuit for Kazakh prose.

The article differentiates the forms of transmission and the semantic layers of the concept of “soul” in fiction,
and reveals the relationship between the author’s idea and philosophical conclusions. In the course of the
study, R. Otarbayev’s creative method combines elements of romanticism, realism, naturalism, and
symbolism, resulting in an artistic and aesthetic unity. His prose aims to reveal the profound layers of national
spirituality, with each character serving as a symbolic representation of the connection between individuals
and society, individuals and time, and individuals and faith. The article will analyze the short stories “Hide
and Seek,” “America’s National Wealth,” “White Butterflies in the Sky,” “Torshakyz and the Parrot,”
“Toktyshak,” and “Altyn,” and examine their artistic structure, which reflects various aspects of the category
“soul.” The protagonist in each story is a reflection of life’s challenges, such as spiritual stress, inner turmoil,
loneliness, and despair. The world of each character’s soul is a mirror of society as a whole, reflecting the
breath of time. The writer portrays the artistic expression of the human soul and honor, hopes and
disappointments, juxtaposing them with the realities of the time, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.
As a result of the conducted research, it has been proven that the concept of “soul” in Kazakh prose has been
formed not only as a psychological or poetic element, but also as an artistic form of national consciousness,
historical memory, and spiritual values.
