Abstract

This article presents the results of a corpus-based analysis of the Kazakh syntactic construction «dep atalатын», formed with the auxiliary verb 'de'. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the frequency of use, functional load and structural-semantic features of the phrase 'dep atalатын' in modern Kazakh academic writing, based on a linguistic corpus research material comprises data collected from the field of history during the development of an academic Kazakh corpus in the humanities. This corpus comprises academic texts, such as textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, dissertations, articles, reports, theses and abstracts. The article provides a linguistic description of the frequency and functions of the dep atalатын construction in academic texts. A corpus-based analysis method was employed for the study, and AntConc software was used for the quantitative processing of the collected data. The frequency of dep atalатын in academic discourse is compared with its usage in literary texts. This comparative analysis has enabled a deeper understanding of the functions and discourse-specific features of the construction in academic writing. Relevance of the study: This study is significant because it is the first to analyse the syntactic construction dep atalатын using a corpus-based analysis method. Furthermore, systematically analysing how this construction functions in academic discourse clarifies the functional features of academic Kazakh and determines the place and significance of this unit in scientific texts. Research Hypothesis: It is hypothesised that the dep atalатын syntactic construction belongs to the category of high-frequency, functionally loaded structures that are widely used in academic texts. It is assumed that this construction performs functions that are typical of the scientific style, such as precise designation, definition, classification, naming, specification and description, thus becoming one of the key elements of academic discourse. Study results: The study showed that the construction of dep atalatyn is a stable syntactic unit that is frequently used in academic discourse. Furthermore, it acts as a modifier, expressing the naming and description of concepts, objects or phenomena. This feature helps to fulfil academic language requirements such as precision, concretisation, and consistency.
